Here we are in Australia, looking forward to the sunshine and heat. Only it’s chucking it down, after all the fires this must have been a massive relief though. Stepping off that plane trying to figure out what public transport will get us to our hostel whilst dodging the rain and with no data was a losing challenge. Luckily a local was going our way and offered us to share his Uber.

Arriving at Bunk Brisbane we realised we had booked it for the 12th not the 13th – zero understanding of the time difference – and they had us down as a no show. Oops. However, we didn’t get charged and still got our full nights there – he said he was being kind and would usually have charged a fee but we were newcomers. We dumped our bags in our first 8 bed dorm (which wasn’t half as bad as we thought) and headed down to the bar for our first free pint of Great Northern larger in Australia, in Bunks club ‘Birdies’ before heading to bed.
