20th March
This morning we travelled to Springbrook Mountain – it also had a protected glow worm cave, which housed a small bat species, down by the natural bridge. This was a rocky bridge/arch covered in miss and grass not yet eroded. You can’t walk on it but, it gave the whole place a magical feeling.

After we checked out a very long bridge over the river and took some cool pictures of the trees. We didn’t touch the water due to high mercury risk signs even though all we wanted to do was swim.

After that we decided to walk along a 2h trail in Perling Brook falls, this trail was through rainforest, around the edge of the valley and to see many waterfalls. We had bought our swim stuff with us but, weren’t allowed. Annoying but the most was cool enough.

Along the walk we saw two baby (maybe brown) snakes. Well, one Josh nearly trod on and I have never heard him squeal or see his legs move as crazy as they did. Crying with laughter I tried to avoid the snake myself.

After this we checked out the canyon lookout. Here, was a very cute little cafe with homemade scones and tea for $4. From this area you could see all the coastline from Byron Bay, Coolangatta and the sea – this was very very beautiful.

Along this mountain top the amount of lookouts in place we had to choose the best so we checked out the Best Lookout out. This wasn’t the best lookout we’ve ever seen but, was still pretty decent.

Back at the hotel we decided to go cool off in the crashing waves on main beach and once again was mesmerised but the insane red colour in the sunset. You would have thought we’d have been used to these sunsets by now.
