28th March
Clearly we hadn’t got enough of rainforesty, overgrown walks so today we went along many roads through a wooden archway and along a very overgrown path. About 20 minutes in we saw a sign saying warnings about a poisonous stinging plant found along the walk. 1m tall with heart shaped leaves – EVERY plant had these leaves – we just avoided the tall ones in hope.
After a wild wondering we reached the rock pool, clambering up the rocks as far as we could to get to the waterfalls. We saw loads of big Banana Spiders and I was freaking out so we gave up quite quick.
After walking back we sat down on the beach close to our hostle listening to the waves and shell searching. Josh found his first cowrie and the first ever sand dollar I’ve ever seen.
Having booked our Air B&B a few days back and the greyhound busses being made to stop in a few days due to Covid – 19 we booked our last ever journey. This late evening bus took us to Townsville for a 1am arrival, we were the only people on it so basically we had a personal driver. I was being very tired and grumpy due to the very uncomfortable journey and we had to catch a bus (as no ubers to my horror) to our apartment. So excited about the pool.
