27th March

Airlie Beach

We arrived at 8.30am at the hostle ‘Base’ but instantly fell asleep as the coach journey was horrible. When we finally woke up we grabbed sandwiches from a very nice little deli to take onto our walk along the Honey Eater Trail – 8km morning brought rainforest.

On the way through we heard a huge russle in the undergrowth, on trying to see what it was a massive python appeared. Running didn’t cover how fast we moved.

At the view point all you could see was endless islands surrounding the Great Barrier Reef and Airlie Port. It’s was stunning but there was a freaky bug on the bench so lunch was a balancing job and very messy.

At the hostle you could order room service from their little cafe so we had steaks and beer in the room with our hungover dive master room mate.
